The world may be home to the tallest apartment in the world, but it’s not all that tall.
The two-story loft in San Francisco’s Mission District boasts an impressive exterior and a design that’s truly infinite.
“There are a lot of things that are really, really cool about it,” said architect and project architect Eric Ruggiero.
“It has a really long front, and the ceiling is incredibly high.
There are so many layers, you can actually look down on a piece of furniture and it’s really hard to pick one that fits.”
The architect and architect, who worked on the project with former SFMTA CEO Steve Roth, says the loft is a response to the city’s increasing housing needs.
“When you have a lot more people moving into the city, and it seems like everybody is trying to live like the rest of us, you’re just kind of wondering how do we get this out of this mess,” Ruggie said.
The loft is set back from the street, but the view is incredibly spectacular.
“I’m really happy about it, because it’s so beautiful,” said resident Laura Knepper, who had a hard time picking out her living room.
“If you have the same room as me, you probably wouldn’t notice it.”
The loft has two floors, and each floor has a separate, 360-degree view of the surrounding neighborhood.
A few of the views include views of the Bay Bridge and the Castro District, and Ruggi said there’s also a view of Golden Gate Park.
“This loft really showcases the Bay Area’s design and it shows that it’s a place that is really welcoming,” Roody said.
“People feel safe and they’re not afraid to show off their personalities, their style, their personality.”
The home also features a massive kitchen, which features a custom kitchen tile, a large-scale stainless steel countertop and a custom made dining table.
The master bedroom has a large window that overlooks the backyard, which also features an enormous glass door.
“We’re doing it for a city that needs more housing,” Rooft said.
San Francisco is already home to an impressive number of apartment buildings.
But it seems there’s no shortage of affordable housing for people in San Jose.
“The San Jose area has a housing crisis, and this is a big step toward helping us solve that problem,” Rottman said.
