Italia: This new couch, which is currently being developed by the Italian football team, uses a minimalist design to give players more privacy.
It’s been designed by an Italian designer and has a height of 2.5 metres, meaning it can be moved by the team if they choose to.
The design is a departure from the traditional shape of a chair which has the players standing upright in front of it, with their feet firmly planted on the cushions.
There are four different positions for the couch, including the ‘slider’ which is used by players to slide up and down on the couch and the ‘stepped chair’, which is similar to the traditional chair, with a slightly higher height.
The concept has also been criticised for its potential to increase the number of injuries suffered by the players.
“We are trying to make the players healthier and happier,” Milan-based architect Antonio Vittori told the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
“We want them to feel comfortable and to be able to play.”
